Smiles was sure the medic was breathing pure smoke by this point, not allowing any room for proper air. she gave him a funny look. She sat down next to marine again and was resting her head on his shoulder. "Don't worry, we'll find a way out of this mess" he whispered to her. "I'll protect you as long as I have to." she fell asleep on his shoulder.
"so how does this plan of yours work boy?" asked marine

"they don't go out during the day here...." he put his pack on his sword and carried it on his shoulder. We do it during the day. two, maybe three of us, probably quiet, faster, and leaner people will go in and plant bombs. If we tie ropes to the invaders and whoever's out side hold the other ends of the ropes. If there is struggling or three strong tugs the outsiders can tug them back out. it's dark so it'll be hard to see in the nest, and if worst comes to worst jump out the windows" he explained

"And who are you going to recruit for this mission?" He blew smoke in Leo's direction. "Considering the state of most of this group the only ones of us fleet enough are me, you, creepy, and the quiet, napping one over there." He nodded towards Smiles. "And you're still on the verge of passing out from the looks of it." He walked over to the van and leaned on it. The look on his face giving away nothing but his fascination with his smoking.

Keen was already moving around like an agitated animal as he decided what he should do,"We should go into the suburbs, they won't occupy those areas because they don't make good nesting grounds, and that way we can make a safe home, but we should gather as much supplies as possible."

"It's decided then." John cracked his back and set a cigarette behind his ear. "We gather food and head for the suburbs. No suicide missions." He glanced at Leo. "It was a good plan - but now's not the time. Maybe when we have a few more people."

smiles didnt know what to make of this new situation. she just wanted to be alone, somewhere she could sit in the quiet without all this noise and confusion. She didnt think Marine would go with this plan but he didnt seem to be protesting at all. he just sort of sat in the corner avoiding everyone's eyes as much as possible. Why did all of this have to happen? they could be in the next town by now if they hadnt have run into these people.

Keen was already a good block away, growing tired of the debate and stalling, it wasn't safe for them to be standing their discussing what to do, not matter how soon they had come to an agreement. One thing he knew for sure, is if you want to survive you keep moving, he looked over his shoulder, wondering if he'd be going off on his own again or if they would put a move on and help gather more supplies they would need for at least a night somewhere.

Medic wasn't going to wait anymore for people to make decisions and ran to catch up with Keen. Though the two or three smokes he'd sucked in made it a bit harder to run. He didn't really care- he was going to die anyways whether it was from bite, bullet, or smoke.

When he was nearly to Keen he stopped to make sure everyone was following. It wasn't good for them to be spread out like this. If anything happened... no. He put it out of his mind and tried to focus on the situation at hand.

smiles tugged on marine's shirt. How was he going to walk? How were they going to do anything? she got up and took the heaviest bag from him and gave him her light one. The weight was crushing but she had to do this. She helped him up and allowed him to lean on her. He tested his weight on the hurt leg. "its not as bad as i thought it was. lets go"

As they started walking out the door. Leo rushed passed them and out the entrance. from out of no where a zombie ran from behind the van and launched itself at him. Without given time to react and the strength to fight back, Leo collapsed underneath the zombie. Marine and the rest looked in horror as the monster bite into Leo's side.

A gunshot rang out then everything was quite. Smiles stood only a few feet away with her gun poised at where the zombie had been. She lowered it and looked at Leo. He was gasping in pain and holding his side where it had bitten him. He looked at the zombie then focused on her. Smiles just looked emotionless, then she raised her eyebrow as if asking a question, there was no need to actually say it. Leo nodded.

"smiles what are you-" marine started to say. a second gunshot

There was a half second where John saw everything in shades of negative, then instinct to over and he ran to where the creature and boy both lay on the ground. He kicked the body of the zombie away and went to his knees over Leo. Trying to see if he could save him even though he knew it was far to late. He looked then at Smiles. Not in confusion or fear - he'd seen to much death to be frightened of a killer. No. He just looked at her, then the rest of the group. Before he stood he tucked a ciggerette behind Leo's ear. Then he just turned and walked away. At least now he knew what kind of people he was dealing with....

smiles started walking, not paying much attention to the rest of the group. "smiles, what was that?" said marine struggling to keep up with her on his injured knee. "smiles, stop and talk to me" he knew his words were foolish but he couldn't think of what else to say. she turned around looking at him intently. her eyes were brimmed with tears but he knew she wouldn't cry, she didn't like showing emotion. Smiles wasn't from violent backgrounds like the rest of them, he knew she was only a high school girl that had stepped up to the plate when the need had arisen.

"smiles, you did what was necessary" he said, repeating what they had taught him to tell the soldiers when they got depressed about their duties in the marine corpse

Keen looked at the body, and briefly at the rest of the group. "I think this is a good lesson, because either way you look at it, you're dead. It doesn't matter which way it is, but you're dead. Don't be sad, you kept him from something far worse." He turned, adjusted his bag, "Let's hurry, the smell will draw them near." He started his trek towards where he knew a small cluster of stores of were they could replenish their supplies and probably head into the suburbs where it might be easier to barricade themselves for the night till they figured out their next move.

~a Gunshot goes off~ Reaper looks up from the corpse he was inspecting, Hmm sounds like someones having fun he thought to himself, maybe I should go play with them a bit he said laughing a little to himself. standing up and resting his scythe on his shoulder, He danced over the rotten corpse of the unlucky fellow and started walking towards the commotion, pausing for a moment as he heard a second shot ring and said to himself, hmm seems i should hurry or all my fun will die out, and continued towards the gunshots humming a soft tone to himself as he inspected the carnage and destruction that surrounded him as he walked through the wreckage of city.

Marine sighed and headed after Keen, gesturing to smiles to follow him. The stores were mostly already looted but a few scant supplies still remained. They looked over the shelves of a small convenience store, picking up unspoiled cans of food. "hey, you alright?" marine whispered to smiles when the others were out of earshot, "I know its hard for you even though you dont like to show it" smiles just shrugged and went about packing various things into her bag. Marine hobbled to a bench by the window, letting his injured leg have a rest. he leaned forward and put his face in his hands, breathing deeply. through his hands he heard the sound of dragging feet. his mind reacted faster than his body and all he could do was look up to see the zombie barely inches from him

Reaper had been walking for few minutes when he came to the bloodied scene he was looking for. He found two fresh bodies in the middle of the street, one of them had been infected but the other one was still human when he died. Reaper knelt next to the bodies careful not to be in the blood. from a large pouch on his belt he pulled out what he needed to take his samples and inspect the bodies, looking at the humans body he said, " poor bastard was bitten than taken out by his own friends, they didn't even bother with a burial." Putting his samples back into their pouch. Reaching into his bag he pulled out his smokes, matches, and a bottle of vodka he had found and took a deep swig, and than threw the bottle onto the bodies, than lite his smoke and said a quick prayer. He took one deep inhale of his cigarette and than through it on the bodies turned and walked away as the bodies burned. As he walked away he went back to his humming.

Reaper followed the bloody foot prints till he found himself on a street with a few stores on it He paused for a sec and listened when he heard rummaging coming from the store across the street he decided to go in and say hi. When he walked in through the doorway he heard stumbling footsteps coming from the isle to the far left he took a step back into the shadows humming his little tone " time for some fun"

Side stepping trough the shadows Reaper prepared his scythe to taste blood again. Reaper Stepped out of the shadows behind the walker that seemed interested in the injured man it was creeping up on and when it finally sprang Reaper made his move Swinging his blade up from bellow he allowed it to find flesh between the walkers legs with a spin and a almost flipping movement Reaper throw the zombie across the room while at the same time slicing it in two. Reaper started his humming back again and turned around to the injured man he had just saved and gave him a sickening smile twirled his scythe to clean the blood off rested it on his shoulder and said "fine weather were having today." and than returned to his humming and started to inspect the body.

Marine just stared at the odd looking man, blinking wildly. He wasnt sure if what he had just witnessed was real life or just in his head. "who the f--k are you?" he said gruffly.

smiles rushed out from behind a shelf but stopped short when she saw the man standing in front of Marine with a scythe, was he planning on killing him? she wasnt sure so she drew her gun and pointed it at him.

Reaper looked up from the half of the body he was inspecting to see a young girl aiming a pistol at him. A wide smile grow across his face he start humming again and went back to his work collecting samples but said simply, " you mite wanna check your friend over there Little One, he seems to be in shock."

John ran from the back of the store where he'd been looking over immune suplaments and other vitamins. He'd heard the sickening sound of flesh ripping and had seen an arc of blood through the air. He stopped dead in his tracks when he saw the man with the scythe. He was leaning over the body, and taking things from it to put in test tubes. Though for the life of him he couldn't understand why... He stepped towards the man carefully. "You did that?" He wanted to be careful in case the man was mad.

Smiles knelt beside marine, checking to see if he had any visable wounds. she couldnt find a way to ask him if he was alright, she saw john run from the back but didnt acknowledge him, she was more worried that maybe marine had been bitten.

Marine sat there staring from the body to the man. he had almost died and his whole body was shaken in a way it had never been in any field of war, he still wasnt completely sure if the strange man was going to finish the job and kill him or not.

Ignoring the Mans question and the young girls concern Reaper continued humming to himself, Reaper returned the vials back to there proper pouch and then began to look through his bag for something, when he found it a wide smile came across his face and he ex-calmed "Ha!" he pulled the object out of his bag and than replaced his bag on his back. he stood up and brushed himself off and than turned to the Injured man and the girl and said "eat this you'll feel better" and tossed him a small bare of chocolate.

Reaper than gave the man that had just arrived a wide smile,"did what? save your friend?" Reaper studied the man and quickly came to the conclusion he was a medic and wasn't a threat nor very interesting so he went back to his humming and started taking in the full scene around him.

John blinked, a little in disbelief at the curtness he was dealing with. But with the world going to hell what was the use in manners anymore? He took another step towards him, "That's rather impresive... to have the strength to carve through a body like that..." He looked at the reamains- the were splayed in all directions, organs included. He nearly vomitted when he saw the split stomach and what apeared to be a partially digested human finger sticking out from it. He turned away. "I'm sure my friend here is just as thankful as I am... it would be nice to know to who however." He stuck out his hand in greeting. "I'm John... but everyone calls me Medic most of teh time."

Marine attempted to get up but found himself taken over my dizziness. smiles held his arm and sat him back down shaking her head. The strange figure was taking what appeared to be samples from the dead body and it almost made her retch. how could he be poking and touching the body like that without so much as a wince? maybe he was crazy, in which case they all needed to be careful.

""Its really not that hard when you know want your doing" he replied with a smile, Shaking his hand "I am know as Reaper." after quickly letting go his hand he looked around the store and asked "are there any others in your group?" He was doing the math in his head on about how much time they had left to get out of there before things would get really interesting. he was sure that they had already attracted the attention of any infected nearby. He pulled out a smoke and his trusty zippo and took a good deep drag on it. his estimate was that they had maybe 30mins before there was no hope. and expected the first few to start showing any minute. Reaper counted in his head the number of rounds he had left, trying to remember if he loaded his gun to its max. he slowly un-clipped the strap on his holster. and than started to do the math in his head on how many they could take out. Injured man would probably get 3 if he can snap out of it, little girls got an automatic-pistol i figure if shes a good shot shell get maybe 6-8, this medic is worthless enless he has some sort of skill with a weapon.

"Reeper." He blinked. "That's...." He looked the man over. "...original." He was, of course, being sarcastic. He didn't think it was original at all, but again, the world was going to hell. Who was he to judge?
"There is one other in our group... I'm sure he's around here somewhere, and even if he decided to leave, he can handle himself well enough." He walked over to stand by the other two, and put his hand on Marines shoulder. "Think you can walk?" Then he looked over at Reeper again, "We need to get out of here. Your little stunt will have the freaks baring down on us in minutes." He reached behind his back and under his trencher and pulled out a revolver. He'd been saving the bullets, and therefore had thought it best to keep the holster out of sight where he wouldn't think of it unless he really needed to. He counted the bullets, then snapped the barrel back into place. It ended up pointed at Reeper, for no other reason than it just did. "Plan on helping us at all?"

Marine got up and gingerly stood on his leg, the pain wasnt a bad as he was expecting so he let smiles help him walk a bit, leaning on her. "whats the plan medic, we dont have much time"

Reaper laughed a little when he saw the medic point a gun at him. "It was the name I was given" he laughed,Pointing at his gun he said "Do you plan to shoot me if I don't?" he smiled.

Ignoring the Medic he addressed the young girl and injured man, "and what may i call you?"
