    Chertovskiĭ Prison Empty
PostSubject: Chertovskiĭ Prison    Chertovskiĭ Prison EmptySun Jan 29, 2012 12:48 am

Chertovskiĭ Prison is home to some of the worst prisoners the world has to offer. It is located in a far place out of societies way in a snow-buried wasteland. It began as a program created by the Japanese so people could experience a video game as if they were inside it. It failed in testing due to the fact pain could be felt in the game and actual death was possible. The Russians decided to buy the technology from the Japanese and used it to create Chertovskiĭ Prison.

In the prison criminals of all ages and offenses are locked away. They are set in a chair, strapped in tightly and given a pair of welder-like goggles. The goggles, using the Japanese technology, connect to the mind and the nerves when turned on.the prisoner is then transported to a completely different world. Vast deserts, thick forests, bogs and swamps, deserted islands, ancient ruins filled with animals, and plants not like any found on earth populate the in game world.

All senses are usable in the game. The user’s body even replenishes itself with the virtual food and water to sustain it. Since no real food is being used no excretion is necessary. This way someone can somehow safely survive in this virtual world. All memories and skills from the outside are remembered in the game as well. Skills, however, can only be used at certain levels For example a master thief could crack a safe but if he’s at a common shop lifter level in the game he knows how but it would be impossible to do so. He would simply just be standing in front of this safe. Inside the game the prisoner stays the same but in the real world they age normally, eventually dying of old age, as humans do.

When prisoners enter this world, it is at the lowest level of there offense. For example if the prisoner was incarcerated for kidnapping a queen or a president they would be reduced to simple a thug/mugger type. With the progression of levels, the rank within the offense would increase, such as from thug/mugger to hostage captor to high-jacker, etc. With the lowest form of their weapon of choice, like for examples sake if he used a gun to kidnap the queen a sling shot with metal balls would be available instead. Then in five levels he would receive a wooden bow with some arrows, then cross bow ect. When prisoners arrive in the world they are issued 20,000 silver pieces. (1 gold piece = 10 silver pieces = 50 copper pieces). The only things that are free in Chertovskiĭ Prison are issued weapons, that set of ammunition and things you kill or steal. Everything else such as food, ammunition, non-issued weapons, health, medicine, power ups, defense items such as armor and clothes must be purchased. It is possible to find all these things in hidden treasure chests, after a kill of a monster or after a battle. In some cases things found may not be useful to the finder. In a case like that the prisoner must sell the item or steal an item from another prisoner that will make the found item useful. Thieving is not against the rules.

When prisoners level up their weapon just appears in front of them. They keep their old weapon and can either choose to keep it or sell it for coins. Prisoners can forge their own weapons if they buy equipment to do so or make equipment from scratch.

The warden writes the rules. Prisoners are allowed to kill other prisoners, form alliances, and kill other creatures or plants. Hacking the game is immediate execution once caught. The warden is allowed to play as well and he is always watching. He uses a system similar to guards called Krasnaya Smertʹ or Smertʹ for short. They look like other players except that they are at a much higher level usually set in the hundreds and that they are the only characters in red. They are set to execute random prisoners on site. It is possible to defeat a Smertʹ but highly unlikely. The object is to kill all other prisoners until the last one is standing. The Winner is rumored to be set free from Chertovskiĭ Prison, but the prize is never formally said.

There is a point system for getting higher in levels. Prisoners level up by earning experience points. Except for plants, everything has experience points. Someone at level 1 has about 100 experience points. If there were a prisoner at level 1as well and killed the first prisoner they would get 25 experience points. That prisoner would need to kill three more level one people to get to level 2. Level 2 prisoners are at 200 hundred experience points and need another hundred to pass to the next level but now level 1 prisoners are worth 20 points now and level 2 prisoners are worth 25 and the pattern continues as you go up in levels. This system has it take longer to level up. Animals are always 5 experience points no matter what level a character may be at. At a certain point level 1’s don’t give experience points at all. If a level 1 kills a level 2 they earn 50 points and by any chance they kill a level three it’s 75 points and so on.

    Places:

Klever Desert is vast and dry. There are teleport areas on the west end and the east end that transport to any random location. There is an oasis in the center with a shop some plants and a small watering hole.

Opticheskiĭ Forest is thick and can only be compared to the dangerous Canadian forests. Many creatures live in it, most of them are the most dangerous ones that can be found in Chertovskiĭ Prison. There are buildings in the trees, all through out the forest. Most of them shops. The teleport areas are especially hard to find. They are hidden in four trees. Though they are much larger trees and have the teleport symbol glowing on them they are very hard to get to. When teleporting into the forest, you start in the center of it, and you need to move to the trees to leave. The Northern tree takes you to Rokot Swamp. Southern tree sends you to Kokosovyĭ Island. West sends you to Klever Desert and east sends you somewhere random.

Rokot Swamp is always is always in a state of night. The water is black and murky and so deep it’s thought to be bottomless. All sorts of unknown things live there. There is no store or any sign of buildings or settlements. It’s just water and marshland barely fit to stand on. The teleport area is large and in the center of the swamp and is set on random. Mode of transportation is limited to find something to float on, an animal to ride, or swim.

Kokosovyĭ Island has soft sands and smooth ocean. When coming to the island it’s always on the shore. It is plentiful with food and animals. The problem is the only way to leave is by the teleport area which moves about the rain forest on the island and it takes you too Klever Desert.

Didier flipped his pocket knife open and closed. It had a small wooden handle with a carving of a male lion roaring, though it wasn't exactly the best craftsman ship. He had just sharpened the wooden blade with a sharp stone that would have probably be more useful to him in actual combat. A gloved hand covered his face. He breathed out slowly and heavily and pushed his brown hair back out of his face, looking out to the seemingly beautiful ocean.

The soft sand under him was warm and inviting, perfect for a nap. Unfortunately Didier needed to think of a plan. He barely got to level two. He had barely escaped death by Smertʹ
when he tripped into a teleport area. Now he was on Kokosovyĭ Island. He needed to form an alliance with some one. anyone. Leveling up and moving on was the only way to survive.

He let the breeze sweep up his thoughts. his red eyes closed slowly. for a moment all seemed still and quiet. Then a sound came from the jungle behind him.

Kirstan stumbled through the jungle displaying little grace. She was tired and had been walking through the jungle only to be alert to nothing. In turn, the extra use of energy to be cautious resulted in taking a toll on not only her mind but her feet as well. She paused and listened, the birds were quiet and insects were still -- the soft sound of waves crashing against rocks was noticable but at a distance.

Kirstan began to smile and slowed her pace taking planned steps through the brush. Each step brought her closer to the sound of the ocean, the taste of salt in the air. Eventually she reached the edge as the trees, ferns, and various vegetation began to dwindle as sand started to emerge from under the roots and plants.

Kirstan moved a giant leaf to the side and looked out with a smile only to see a boy sitting on the shore. Recalling past experiences she imediatly covered her mouth with her hand and placed her back against a nearby boulder covered in moss. Kirstan began to shake as she reached down into her pocket and pulled out a zippo only to look dissapointed at the small item. How was this supposed to protect her?! She did have kerosene but she could put the entire jungle at risk... and have a bounty put on her for the Smert' to track.

Kirstan uncovered her mouth and held the zippo close to her chest, peeking around the boulder to see if the boy had caught any wind of her. Kirstan paused, feeling that she had not been noticed and then froze as something started to crawl over her hand. Her eyes hesitantly looked over to see a fairly large centipede inspecting the rock and more specifically her hand.

Kirstan started to shake more, fear whelming up within her only to trigger shivers along her spine. 'Don't make a noise! don't make a noise! don...' She took a peek at it watching as it was now interested in crawling up her arm. She yelped in surprise and jumped back, shaking her arm fiercely flinging the insect towards the beach where the boy was laying.

Ah, the new children. Honestly, Aniel always found it easy to pick them out, to find them among the stronger ones. Maybe it was the weapons. He blended in with the trees rather easily, watching the boy on the sand The ocean rushed through his ears like air. His lips twisted into a smirk; his eyes remained cold and uncaring.

He studied the boy for a moment longer, then was quickly distracted by the sound of a yell, towards which he turned. Amusement flitted across his expression like the embers of a weak flame--quickly extinguished, but nevertheless present for the moment it had. Then, his face wiped itself clean of everything, and he stepped up to the trees shielding him from the sun, from the eyes of the other two.

The shade was his place to be.

He stepped closer again, eyes narrowed as they studied the odd little pairing. Another slow step, barely a shuffle, and the tip of his shoe fell into the blanket of sunlight. The damned sun, so bright, so useful but so odd. He shook his head, his hair falling into his face. He brushed it aside. Waited.

Didier was startled by the girls sounds of distress. He jumped and stood, knife at the ready. Whipped around, considering all his options, how he would fight, what he should do, what would be best to take. Then his face fell in confusion. A centipede? That's what she was panicking over? He was so aghast this woman would blow a cover over a mere insect. It wasn't even one of the ten foot centipede like creatures that inhabited the island.

He sighed and held up his hands i the air in surrender "Hey." he called to her in a bland tone awaiting an answer.

The boy had certainly noticed her at this point, <i>'great!'</i> she thought with her legs now shaking, <i>'you gave yourself away...' Kirstan backed out of view against the boulder and shook her head trying to get herself composed. "Okay.. calm down.." she whispered to herself. But... how could she calm down when she felt like something was watching her?

The boy said something and she slowly looked around the side of the boulder showing half her body. His hands were up but she could still see the knife. "... May I help you?" At this point her hands were shaking only to cling to her zippo for even the slightest of reassurance. Just how did she get to level five? She couldn't remember ever fighting someone nonetheless kill -- Her memories were all so hazy whenever she felt endangered... would if she had to fight now?

He watched them interact with a soft sort of curiosity that was almost intrusively probing. It was a question pressing through his mind as he watched. A centipede. An insect. There were far worse things. Things that could tear you apart so quickly you couldn't even scream. Things even nightmares feared. Aniel considered this for a moment, a twisted sort of smile dancing across his lips. He was curious how these two would react, seeing something six times as large as the buildings outside approaching with every intention of swallowing them whole.

He felt like the audience when the rest of the world was the stage, the actors, the fake cardboard scenery. The clouds in the sky were no more than painted on. She smiled again, the same twisted smile from before. He was tempted for an explosion, but knew it was not likely to happen. No volcano would rupture and bathe them in molten lava. No comet from the solar system to throw a bowl in the ground and toss them away like puppets.

His red iris's shrunk as his pupil adjusted. Naturally, when afraid or nervous the body tried to let in the light. Stay calm... Stay calm... Stay calm... Didier tried to slow his heart as one would to keep a shark from approaching. No matter how sweet, or misplaced she might be, a shark seemed a lot less terrifying in this moment. "I-" He began, but his voice came out small, muffled, like a mouse.

He cleared his throat loudly. Speak loudly, but don't be threatening, but don't sound weak or afraid. and dear lord don't stutter. He opened his mouth, but nothing came out at first. His voice was trapped for what seemed like hours in his racing mind. After the few seconds of silence ended the words came out. They were confident, and strong, but still a bit soothing.

"I wish not to fight. Killing and running do not interest me. I am Didier Leonce Masson
of France. I am a lowly thief, not a murderer. What level might you be at?"

Kirstan watched as Didier spoke and took notes of his actions. The boy seemed to be just as cautious as she was but much more stable security wise. As for his aggressiveness his response seemed to eliminate any motivation of such actions but perhaps it was just a trick to have her lower her guard.

After a long moment Kirstan fidgeted, still feeling the eyes on her. She took a quick glance behind her, confused, and then quickly turned her own red eyes towards Didier's. "That's a funny name.." She paused, realizing that the comment was probably not the best way to reply to a criminal. "Uhm.. Kirstan Vaylore. I'm neither a thief nor a murderer.. I don't even know where I am or why I'm here!" She seemed to have a form of amnesia over the events that had taken place which led to her delivery to the prison.

Kirstan watched the boy with a new found curiosity, "and I'm level 5." The grip upon the zippo lessened a bit as she eased into the conversation.
